Prevention Management Group

The Prevention Management Group (PMG) is responsible for operational decision making and management of the Network. The PMG advises and recommends action to the Executive Committee on a wide range of scientific and management issues.

The PMG:

  • analyzes the Network capacity and research needs, and makes recommendations to the EC for implementation of the research agenda

  • approves protocol team chairs and site participation in HPTN protocols

  • monitors the status of concept plan and protocol development and progress of ongoing studies

  • monitors performance of the CTUs through reports received from the Performance Evaluation Committee and the Study Monitoring Committee

  • reviews and develops an annual funding plan for submission to the EC before the plan is submitted to DAIDS

  • mediates issues from scientific committees, working groups and protocol teams; if resolution cannot be reached, issues are forwarded to the EC

  • addresses cross-study coordination of timelines, standardization of procedures, and other broad operational issues

  • approves policies and procedures

  • oversees the work of key standing committees

  • oversees and coordinates activities of the CORE, Network Lab, and SDMC.

The PMG convenes monthly and on an ad hoc basis by conference call.  In addition, the PMG holds quarterly face to face meetings to discuss key operational and scientific issues.
