HPTN PrEP Meeting 2007

Fifty-five colleagues involved in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis research activities participated in a one-day meeting on January 9, 2007 to identify key scientific questions for implementation as prevention research strategies. Participants represented the scientific, advocacy, pharmaceutical and funding communities. Other topics discussed included product formulation, study design, proposed study populations, and lessons learned from completed and ongoing or planned trials as they may apply to future trials. Key topics included the need for multiple studies/populations, sample sizes required, impact on different transmission mechanisms, adherence, resistance, disinhibition and community preparedness and involvement. The format of the meeting included brief presentations, followed by discussion. The meeting agenda and citable presentations (if permission granted) are attached.
