Linda-Gail Bekker

 

Linda-Gail Bekker, MBChB, PhD is a professor of medicine and deputy director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine, University of Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Bekker was also president of the International AIDS Society from 2016 to 2018 and has supported many Network studies including HPTN 067, HPTN 075, HPTN 076, HPTN 082, HPTN 083 and HPTN 084. She is a physician-scientist and infectious disease specialist focusing on programmatic and action research around antiretroviral rollout, TB integration, and HIV prevention in key populations. She holds medical degrees from the University of Cape Town and a Ph.D. from the Rockefeller University.
