As a social and behavioral health scientist, the focus of Dr. Chandler’s research is health equity and disease prevention among populations of highest HIV incidence. His work seeks to link lived experience with health outcomes using theories such as syndemics, minority stress, and intersectionality. His most recent research projects center HIV prevention via preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for women, sex work engagement among men, and intersectional stigma related to HIV. Dr. Chandler is a member of the Tennessee CFAR, the Pacific AETC HIV Leadership Initiative Steering Committee, and is a core member of the VUMC Center For Health Behavior and Health Education.
