HPTN Executive Committee member Dr. Darrell Wheeler was appointed president of the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz. He assumes his new role on July 18, 2022. Dr. Wheeler currently serves as provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. He is also a member of the U.S. Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA). Dr. Wheeler co-chairs the HPTN Scholars Program, which has become a model for other mentoring programs to foster career development among underrepresented minority scholars.
