Wairimu Chege, MD, MPH is a Medical Officer in the Clinical Prevention Research Branch of the Prevention Sciences Program at the Division of AIDS, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), US National Institutes of Health. Dr. Chege oversees the development and implementation of clinical trials focusing on biomedical and behavioral strategies for HIV prevention among at-risk populations in the US and sub-Saharan Africa.  Dr. Chege serves on various working groups including the Cross-Network Transgender working group and the NIAID-National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Behavioral and Social Sciences Project Team, which she currently leads. Dr. Chege is a recognized expert in staff and site development, and establishment of HIV prevention trial preparedness studies internationally.
